Are you an experienced claims handler looking to take your career to the next level? Our in-house law firm, Strata Solicitors, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Technical Defence Claims Handler to join our Defence Team.
This is an exciting chance to manage your own pre-litigated caseload of claims, including personal injury, motor, property, and other losses brought by third parties.
You will be joining our vibrant team at the Blisworth office, where we embrace a flexible hybrid working model available to all employees upon successful completion of their probationary period. We are also committed to your professional growth and offer financial support for advancing your legal and insurance qualifications.
How you'll make an impact
- Manage a caseload of motor claims, ensuring service standards and data integrity are consistently met or exceeded
- Set up and acknowledge new claims, keeping clients informed as appropriate
- Accurately reserve and proactively manage claims
- Review and settle claims efficiently to minimise costs
- Conduct telephone and correspondence negotiations with third parties, insurers, and legal representatives
- Collect third-party hire and repair details as necessary
- Handle credit hire claims
- Manage third-party injury claims via online portals and Letters of Claim, including valuing general and special damages
- Handle higher value, complex, and client-sensitive claims
- Support and train junior claims handlers, acting as a referral point
- Assist the Claims Manager, Defence Referral Lead, and/or Defence Operations Manager as required
About You
- Proven experience in third-party claims handling, ideally with a focus on third-party personal injury claims
- Expertise in the motor liability claims arena
- Knowledge of credit hire processes
- Knowledge of complex liability, quantum, and causation
- Familiarity with Case Law and Civil Procedure Rules (CPR)
- Demonstrable self-motivation and initiative
- Ability to work independently within a defined structure and collaborate effectively with peers and managers
- Excellent interpersonal skills
