Job Title: Catastrophe Analyst
Division: Exposure Management
Reports To: As per Beazley’s organisation chart
Key Relationships: Exposure Management Team, Property Risks Treaty Underwriters and Underwriter Assistants, Other Staff
Job Summary:
To provide support to the Treaty Underwriting team, within the Property Risks Division, specifically preparing exposure data for modelling in third party & in-house catastrophe models.
Key Responsibilities:
- Catastrophe modelling using Moody’s RMS and Verisk Touchstone Re, at a portfolio and individual account level.
- Capturing, monitoring and reporting of aggregates using applicable Exposure Management software.
- Maintain RMS & Verisk portfolio databases for key territories.
- Production of RDS event losses and probabilistic loss numbers for different stakeholders both internally & externally.
- Prepare aggregate and loss estimates for business plan and Reinsurance purposes
- Monitoring and reporting of exposure management controls on a monthly basis to ensure data accuracy
- Event loss estimates as and when required using various software dependant on model coverage.
- Keep up-to-date with current tools, technologies and techniques, to ensure best practice is applied to Beazley developments.

This may include, amongst others, Beazley’s underwriting control standards, Beazley’s claims control standards, other Beazley standards and customer relationship management
- Carry out additional responsibilities as individually notified, either through your objectives or through the learning management system
- Provide professional service in person, by email, telephone, video call, etc.
- Produce ad hoc reports for the underwriters and other members of staff when requested
Personal Specification:
Education and Qualifications
- Educated to ‘A’ Level or equivalent
- Degree in relevant field (Mathematics, Sciences, Geography) a plus but not essential
- Industry Qualifications such as CII a plus but not essential
- Exposure Management accreditations such as CCRA, CERM, CSCR a plus but not essential
Abilities
- Advanced user of Moodys RMS and/or Verisk Touchstone
- Advanced user of Excel and other Microsoft applications
- SQL Server Management Studio experience
- Knowledge of either Moodys RMS and/or Verisk back-tables a plus but not essential
- Other coding languages such as VBA, Python, R a plus but not essential
- Experience with Simulation software (Analyze Re), a plus but not essential
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Exposure Management experience, preferably 2yrs Treaty, other Property experience will also be considered
- Experience working within a Lloyds syndicate or for an insurance broker
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Able to communicate effectively with stakeholders and ability to break down technical information to audiences.
