Job Description

We’ve a fantastic opportunity to join a high performing, tight-knit Company Secretariat team as “number two” to the AXA UK Group Company Secretary. We’re seeking a qualified Company Secretary to support the Group Company Secretary in the provision of a full company secretarial service to AXA UK and all subsidiaries of the AXA UK Group.

 

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least 40% of your week away from home, moving to the majority of your working week from September 2025. Away from home means either attendance at our London office, visiting clients or attending industry events. 

 

What you’ll be doing:

 

  • Providing a full suite of company secretarial services to over 30 companies in the AXA UK Group, including end-to-end meeting support of the main operating companies and subsidiary boards as well as principal Board-level Committees, attending meetings and producing high-quality minutes of discussions.
  • Supporting the Group Company Secretary in managing the corporate governance framework, advising the Chair and Directors on decisions/ key issues and helping to facilitate good information flows between executive and non-executive directors.
  • Leading and overseeing the implementation of the statutory accounts year end process.
  • Managing and providing Group Secretariat support on a variety of ongoing and ad-hoc corporate, commercial and regulatory projects.
  • Liaising with colleagues globally around the AXA Group.
  • Deputising for the Group Company Secretary, as required.
  • Managing a team, including allocating and monitoring workflow.
  • Depending on seniority, acting as the named Company Secretary for certain subsidiary entities in the Group.

What you’ll bring:

 

  • Chartered Secretary (ACIS or FCIS) or an equivalent level of professional qualification and experience.
  • Highly experienced with a detailed understanding of UK company law and corporate governance best practice, preferably acquired through working at a senior level in the company secretariat function of a large financial services organisation.
  • Pragmatic, with excellent time management, organisation skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to deal with people at all levels, including Board level executives and Non-Executive Directors.
  • Adaptable and flexible, with a positive attitude to change and an ability to work under pressure on own initiative.
  • Able to handle sensitive situations and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven line and task/process management experience.

 

As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.
