Introduction 

The Underwriting Assistant will be responsible for supporting the execution of the Amwins Amplify business plan. This will entail building an internal network of broker relationships and partnering with colleagues across Data & Analytics, Cat Modelling, Operations, Binders & Facilities, IT and the Central Services Team to deliver a diversified and profitable portfolio of risks across multiple classes of business.

In this role, you will assist in the quoting and processing of in-scope new and renewal business, making any necessary adjustments to existing quotes and bound business, working closely with Amplify underwriting colleagues and Amwins Global Risks brokers to secure Amplify placement on in-scope risks, and applying a data-driven lens to analyse and improve the underwriting performance of the Amplify portfolio. This role will report to the Underwriting Director, Amwins Amplify.

Responsibilities

  • Process new business, renewals and any underwriting adjustments using departmental systems and complying with agreed procedures
  • Partner with the Data & Analytics and Cat Modelling teams to proactive and reactively assess the impact of bound and in-scope business on the aggregate Amplify portfolio
  • Prepare and issue documentation complying with capacity and internal reporting requirements
  • Accurately record, monitor and follow up quote and portfolio data
  • Develop relationships with Amplify’s brokers and capacity partners to ensure best possible service levels and successful outcomes
  • Respond to queries from Amplify’s capacity partners and brokers in a timely and professional manner to enhance the reputation of Amwins Amplify
  • Data verification to ensure integrity and accuracy of systems, data & MI
  • Discuss and prepare new business and renewal quotes in line with Amplify portfolio underwriting parameters
  • Provide regular management information and statistics within the team and in tandem with Amplify capacity partners
  • Handle general administrative duties as assigned
  • Undertake any other responsibilities which may become necessary for the proper performance of the role
  • Attend training, professional development courses, and internal/external meetings where required and/or necessary for the effective outcomes of the role
