We have the opportunity for a Syndicate Accountant to join our Finance team here at Tokio Marine Kiln. Reporting into the Syndicate Finance Manager, the role will support timely and accurate financial reporting and associated control activities relating to TMK’s managed Syndicates to ensure all internal and external reporting requirements are met. Alongside the Syndicate Finance Manager, the role will also be responsible for ensuring that syndicate transactions are accounted for correctly and will work closely with key stakeholders across the business to ensure that operational improvements arising from the Future at Lloyd’s Strategy and the Lloyd’s Reporting Rationalisation projects are appropriately embedded into the syndicate close process.
This role includes responsibility for:
- Monthly maintenance of the syndicates’ ledgers for accuracy and completeness
- Production and timely submission of annual and quarterly syndicate regulatory returns
- Production and timely submission of the Solvency II returns for the syndicate platform
- Production of quarterly analytical review and commentary on the reported performance and position of the syndicates
- Implement new processes to ensure that any reporting changes from Lloyd's and other internal or external parties are delivered efficiently
- Assist in the development of systems and databases to increase efficiency and the level of automation
- Ensure that all financial reporting controls are documented and evidenced for review
- Critically review information received by other departments for inclusion in syndicate financial returns
- Ad hoc departmental duties as required
- Liaise with internal and external auditors
- Support the career development of other team members by providing coaching and guidance over changes to financial reporting standards and other ad-hoc accounting matters.
It is essential that the successful candidate is a qualified accountant who has Lloyd's/Insurance reporting and accounting knowledge. We are looking for someone who is a team player that has excellent communication and organisational skills.
