Job Description and Qualifications:
Lions Gate Underwriting (LGU) is a global MGA with teams throughout Canada, Australia and Latin America. As LGU continues its growth in Canada, we are seeking a motivated Junior Underwriter & Processing Assistant to join our Ottawa team. Reporting to the Director of Underwriting, this hybrid role involves underwriting, evaluating, and negotiating new and renewal business across multiple lines of coverage, while also supporting underwriting operations through processing tasks. You will thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment as part of an energetic group of insurance professionals dedicated to delivering exceptional service.
Job Duties:
- Assist underwrite and service a growing book of business, including risk selection, coverage negotiation and pricing adequacy on new & renewable business, all in accordance with designated underwriting authorities and company guidelines
- Establish and maintain strong relationships and answer inquiries from clients, insurance agents and brokers, consultants and other company personnel
- Provide recommendations on insurance, including coverage negotiation and pricing adequacy based on market intelligence, trends and industry knowledge and company guidelines.
- Maintain accurate underwriting files ensuring compliance with policies and government regulatory requirements
- Prepare underwriting reports and update insurance forms when necessary, manage client data input and updates within insurance system.
Job Requirements (education, experience):
- Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline is required.
- Minimum two years’ work experience in underwriting and insurance processing; with at least one year experience in construction and commercial insurance industry.
- Strong familiarity with EPIC and Policy Works Insurance Systems;
- Licensing with Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario, required.
Language of Work: English
Salary: $67,000 per year.

Location of work (area, city, town): This is a hybrid position in Ottawa, Ontario, with a minimum of three (3) days per week in office in Ottawa.
