Actuarial Graduate Scheme / Trainee Actuary
Ageas is recruiting for actuarial trainees, both for the September 2024 graduate scheme, and immediate start. We are looking for people who are excited by the challenge of digging into trends, and who are keen to use this insight to collaborate with other areas of the business and help solve real-world problems.
So what makes Ageas a great place to start your Actuarial career?
Ageas recognises the value in the technical skillset, and this is reflected in the investment in development programmes aimed at supporting technical people in their growth, as well as the study support available.
We pride ourselves on bringing out the best in our people, encouraging them to step up when opportunities arise and supporting them to reach their personal and professional career development goals. That's why bringing in motivated, passionate graduates who are keen to learn and contribute from the very start is so important. We have people at all levels who joined as graduates, including our Chief Actuary, demonstrating that this a place where people are able to progress.
What we offer:
Rotation scheme through the Motor, Capital and Central teams, enabling exposure across Reserving, Pricing and Capital, Motor and Household.
Graduate training programme and mentoring from senior actuaries.
Full study package and generous pay awards for passing exams. We also welcome applications from people who do not wish to study for exams.
An inclusive team, where everyone is made to feel welcome, and flexible working is the norm.
What does the role involve?
We predominantly work on Motor and Household; the key products offered by the business. You’ll learn to use a variety of tools including Excel, Powerpoint, PowerBI, SAS and bespoke Actuarial software such as ResQ and Psicle. You’ll use these to analyse data and help assess appropriate reserves and explain the drivers of experience. There will be a mix of business-as-usual regular work, and a diverse array of projects, including process improvements and “deep dives”. You’ll present your work to senior actuaries from early in your time with us, and grow over time to take on further responsibility and more complex problems.
Application Requirements
An excellent academic record, particularly with a numerate subject at university.
A brief covering letter, addressed to the Chief Actuary, setting out the reasons for your interest in this role and whether you are looking for an immediate or September 2024 start.
