We have an exciting opportunity for a Digital Integration Specialist to join the Markel team in Manchester or Leeds. The Markel Direct team offer a range of insurance products including professional indemnity, public liability, employers liability, D&O, property, occupational personal accident, legal representation and employment cover and cyber. Our distribution channels fall in to 3 key categories – Markets, which are created through direct to consumer channels, Online or via our UK call centre, through our white label introducer network and our most recent development is the creation of our digital partner proposition providing API integrations into Insurtechs or broker platforms.
We have two retail brands that attract customers from different sectors of the micro/SME market. Markel Direct has been running for 10 years and targets multiple sectors including IT, fitness, Therapists, Photographers and Charities & Community Group. Caunce O’Hara offers specialist insurance to contractors, consultants, freelancers, self-employed professionals and to the oil & rail sectors. This is a new role which will report through the Operational Team but will also work closely with Digital Marketing. The role has been created to act as a conduit between our Digital Partners, our system provider, IS2 and our Divisional Operational team.
Working closely with internal resource and third-party developers to ensure business requirements are understood, supplier resources are committed to delivery and projects are kept on track. Supporting delivery of all partner integration digital development as well as technical systems development aligned with business objectives. The role will also provide technical advice and support in the delivery of digital/API solutions to our Digital Partners, address queries raised with the system providers working with the Operational team to ensure all business systems requirements have completed testing prior to deployment.
What you’ll be doing:
Be the delivery lead on all partner digital integrations from scoping to delivery
Work with partners and internal team members to facilitate their understanding of the digital solutions available. Documenting requirements for implementation planning
Act as the SME for digital development solutions, supporting partners throughout their development with areas such as question set mapping, data flows and reporting
Work with team and IT vendors to keep up to date with new technologies to define requirements for enhancing our digital solutions to support new distribution opportunities
Collaborate with internal partners from operations, compliance, marketing and sales to ensure multi-functional goals are achieved on API projects
Ensure that high level protocols are in place and adhered to during project delivery
Work with the Operational team to ensure all systems are tested and signed off prior to launch
Provide learnings log post-delivery of all integrations
Provide guidance and insight through the Operational planning process

Support software developers in digital integrations
Strong organisational skills
Experience supporting and solve technical implementations
Customer-focused approach and attention to detail. Confident communicator
Excellent numeracy and literacy skills
Ability to build and maintain relationships with partners
Drive and enthusiasm for meeting deadlines
Strong desire to provide technical support for a technology customer base
Our nice to have’s:
Experience in insurance or financial services
Experience of working with both Agile and Waterfall deliveries
