Overview
We are looking for a Forensic Accountant, to join our Gallagher Business Assist team, which provides claims preparation and negotiation expertise to Gallagher clients, within one of the world’s largest Insurance brokerage and consulting firms. The role will be predominately leading and managing large and complex business interruption losses and pre-loss business interruption exposure projects.
The Forensic Accounting offering provides expertise in handling a wide and varied portfolio of commercial Business Interruption and Stock Losses, generally in excess of £100,000 for a range of SME to corporate claims which will vary in size and complexity.
The Forensic Accounting service forms part of Gallagher Business Assist, where you will be joining a well-established and supportive team of very experienced Chartered Loss Adjusters, and working with another specialist Forensic Accountant.
This is a remote position. Successful candidate can be based anywhere in the UK.
How you'll make an impact
- Process Business Interruption and Stock claims providing specialist assistance on complex major and complex losses.
- Utilise your Forensic Accounting and Business Interruption knowledge to deliver pre-loss business interruption exposure projects, this could be anything from a review of sums Insured, to stress testing of first loss Business Interruption limits.
- Meet clients, adjusters, Insurers and others involved in the claim process, assisting clients to prepare, present and negotiate settlements as per client requirements on any given business interruption or stock claim.
- Liaise directly with clients regarding any claims queries or issues and ensure they are kept updated of claim progress at appropriate intervals, including awareness of any issues arising.
- Develop working relationships with clients and AJG colleagues to promote customer satisfaction.
- Offer appropriate technical advice to clients throughout the claims process. Assess options available to the client and advise them accordingly to provide sufficient knowledge to make reasoned decisions.
- Effectively manage client and colleague expectations regarding the claim process, timescales, policy and/or legal liability and quantum.
- Actively promote Business Assist and the Forensic Accountancy service in the region and nationally, including branch visits to review take up and offer guidance.
- Comply with AJG Professional Standards Manual in accordance with statutory requirements for role with specific attention, but not limited to, Managing Client information, Whistle Blowing, Treating Customers Fairly.
- Understand and apply fundamental legal and regulatory policy in relation to internal policies and the insurance contract as required.
- Ensure all aspects of the Financial Conduct Authority, Legislative and regulatory bodies are adhered to and followed at all times.
About you
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (either ACCA, ACA or CIMA).
- Experience in insurance focused forensic accounting, especially within business interruption.
- Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to lead a large and complex claim and conduct C-suite level discussions
- Ability to effectively network.
- MS Office proficiency essential.
- Excellent communication & relationship building skills.
- Proven and confident negotiation skills.
- Eligible to work in the UK.
