We have an opportunity a permanent Infrastructure Specialist to join our IT Department. The successful candidate will report into the Infrastructure Operations Manager and will be responsible for planning, designing, developing, and the launch of efficient operational systems to support core organisational functions; this includes all Projects, Continual Service Improvement, and BAU activities. They will have proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve systems issues to maximise the benefit of the IT environments.
Responsibilities in the role include assisting in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new services and enhancements to existing services within Infrastructure Operations and the strategic design and implementation of the core infrastructure to ensure its high availability, as well as own and manage service improvement plans. They will provide 3rd line IT support and act upon and resolve incidents escalated to the team in a timely manner and participate in the existing 'on-call' rota to support overnight processing schedule outside normal office hours. They will be aware of and comply with the relevant rules and regulations in relation to financial crime & conduct and adhere to all Service Management processes (Incident, Service Request, Change, Problem & CSI). They will have ownership of systems used for monitoring, backups, disaster recovery, security patching and ensure compatibility and interoperability on computing systems. They will work with internal and external project management teams on key projects and enhancements within the Infrastructure Operations team and promote and contribute to a culture of documentation and knowledge sharing using existing knowledge base tools.
The successful candidate must have strong technical skills and knowledge of Microsoft Technologies including Windows Server, Active Directory and ideally SQL Server, Microsoft 365 services and cloud-based solutions (AWS, Azure). As well as previous experience working with a variety of technology stacks for compute, storage, virtualisation, and network products ideally consisting of VMware, Cisco UCS or similar, HP Nimble, Pure, and others. It is desired that they will have working knowledge of DevOps principals and technologies such as Terraform and Ansible, and scripting languages such as Python, YAML and PowerShell. Also working knowledge/awareness of Agile, Kanban methodologies, ITIL V3/4 accreditation, and or any public cloud practitioner certifications. They will have strong interpersonal & communication skills and the ability to produce documentation to a high standard and understand the importance of sharing knowledge with support teams at different levels. They must be a team player and possess ability to react swiftly to customer issues as well as displaying excellent time management. The role also involves some on-call, weekend work and shift-based hours on a rota between 08:00-17:00.
