Introduction
We are seeking a skilled and motivated catastrophe modeller with at least two years of experience to join our new catastrophe modelling function. The Catastrophe Modeller will play a crucial role in analysing and quantifying risks associated with natural and man-made catastrophe perils. This position offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth and development in catastrophe modelling and (re)insurance exposure risk management.

Broking and underwriting trading teams, other AGR GST functions, Amwins GST functions, external clients, markets and vendors.
Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications
- Catastrophe Modelling: Assist in the development, validation and maintenance of catastrophe models using industry-leading software and methodologies. Collaborate with colleagues to refine modelling techniques and enhance model accuracy.
- Data Analysis: Collect, validate and analyse data related to catastrophic events, including historical loss data, exposure data and hazard data. Use analytics and data visualisation tools to identify patterns, trends, and correlations in the data.
- Model Validation: Conduct validation tests and sensitivity analyses to assess the accuracy and reliability of catastrophe models. Identify and investigate discrepancies or anomalies in model outputs and work with colleagues to address any issues.
- Risk Assessment: Assist in conducting risk assessments for various catastrophic events, utilising catastrophe models to quantify potential losses and estimate risk exposures. Collaborate with underwriters, actuaries, and other stakeholders to interpret modelling results and inform decision-making processes.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations summarizing modelling methodologies, findings, and recommendations. Communicate complex modelling concepts and results to both technical and non-technical audiences in a clear and concise manner.
- Research and Development: Stay informed about emerging trends, best practices, and advancements in catastrophe modelling and risk assessment. Participate in ongoing research and development initiatives to improve modelling techniques and enhance the organization's modelling capabilities.
- Project Support: Provide support to senior modellers and project managers in managing and executing catastrophe modelling projects. Assist in project planning, task prioritization, and resource allocation to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
- Undertake any other responsibilities that may become necessary in the performance of the role.
Key Competencies
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, natural sciences, or related discipline.
- 2+ years of experience in catastrophe modelling and exposure analysis within the (re)insurance industry.
- Proficiency in catastrophe modelling software such as RMS, AIR, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and analyse large complex data sets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as SQL, DAX or Python is welcome.
- Professional certification or coursework in catastrophe modelling or risk management is desirable.
