Assistant Underwriter – Reinsurance
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assist and support the Reinsurance team with the underwriting of the European property and casualty treaty portfolios.
· Download, collate and file publicly available information for upcoming renewals.
· Download and distribute submissions (modelling and pricing data) for both new and renewal business.
· Correspond with brokers with respect to outstanding information pre and post binding and general correspondence.
· Maintain underwriting files in an orderly manner and ensure documentation is filed according to the teams prescribed filing structure.
· Assist underwriters in pricing models review and contribute to underwriting decisions / strategy.
· Support the underwriting team in coding reinsurance wordings into the Company internal reinsurance system.
· Manage renewal tracker at 1st Jan and provide reports post renewals – deal flow, bound contracts etc.
· Assist with quarterly exposure reporting as needed.
· Provide in-force portfolio reports and EPI movements against plan.
· Provide accounting adjustments monthly to Finance and assist with any queries.
· Closely work with Claims on both live and historic claims: loss estimates, movements, settlements, client queries etc.
· Complete data sets required for Regulatory/Lloyd’s reporting.
· Assist with Lloyd’s SBF and ongoing reporting requirements, liaising with Miami and Singapore offices as required.
· Assist with portfolio analysis to identify areas of opportunity / areas of concern.
· Develop a broad understanding of the RI market and role of market participants.
Person Specification:
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
- Languages - Fluent in English - both written and verbally with proficiency in French or German preferred.
· Must be articulate and personable, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Proactive customer service and willing to interact with clients/brokers maintaining high service levels
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a collaborative manner.
- Excellent analytical skills required.
- Have a high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Must be self-motivated
- Have an appetite to work towards a professional qualification e.g. ACII (supported by the business)
- Proficient user of MS Office
