Job Title: Underwriting Assistant (Axis Re)
Job Description:
The Underwriting Assistant will provide assistance primarily to the Marine Treaty team but also to other teams to support renewal and new business activities. The level of responsibilities is expected to increase over time to take over more tasks from the underwriters to free their time to underwrite business and cultivate good client relationships. The candidate should show high motivation, ambition, as well as the interest to learn about underwriting.
What will you do in this role?
Data Entry and Quality Control:
- Administers accurate and timely input of data onto the relevant systems and AXIS Re internal “Compass” i.e. premium/conditions/endorsements/quotes/renewal entries and manages own workload appropriately
- Responds positively when data quality issues are identified within his/her work, and takes corrective actions in a timely manner
- Consistent high quality preparation of submission data and ad hoc reports
- Compares wordings/slips and prepares them for signature
- Maintains, organizes and completes underwriting filing system
- Audit: provides auditors with files, responds to queries and provides evidences for any entries made in the system
- Supports various month close procedures as directed – including liaising with technical accounting teams
- Participates/Supports the manager in projects
- Conferences: helps the head of the team to organize meetings with clients/brokers

- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to establish and maintain strong internal client relationships, internally and externally
- Strong analytical skills required
- Strong IT flair (MS Office)
- Accurate and diligent working approach with high flexibility

- Negotiation skills are an advantage
What we prefer you to have:
- High school diploma; university degree and/or industry related certification advantageous
- At least three years’ experience in the reinsurance industry
