The Role
The reserving team at Canopius are responsible for recommending the appropriate level of reserves to be held at each quarter-end, as well as supporting finance with quarterly and annual reporting. They also provide feedback to the underwriting team on trends within the reserving data and support the wider business to understand reserve strength for monitoring purposes.
This role provides exposure to the full reserving cycle as well as additional projects supporting development of reserving processes off-cycle.
Responsibilities will include:
- Assist in development, operation and documentation of the Reserving database and relevant models.
- Assist in the assessment and analysis of quarterly reserve estimates.
- Support the preparation and development of management information using software such as Power BI.
- Provide Actuarial support to Finance as part of the quarterly financial close process.
- Ensure information from the Claims team is captured and fed efficiently into Actuarial processes.
- Assist in the production of output for regulatory reporting.
- Other general assistance across the Actuarial function as required.
Skills and Experience:
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem solving skills, including the ability to apply existing knowledge to a new problem in order to suggest solutions.
- Some knowledge of SQL, Power BI, Python is desirable.
Study support will be provided to a successful candidate to pursue the actuarial exams.
