The opportunity:
You’ll be part of a global team, working closely with HR partners in the UK, Europe, and Canada, and collaborating with our global Talent Development, Recruitment, Total Rewards, and HRIS teams to deliver a world-class employee experience.
Our HR Business Partner’s drive a cohesive people agenda aligned with our ambitious growth plans, oversee strategic HR initiatives, and manage daily HR activities.
This role covers approximately 470 employees across seven UK locations (London, Croydon, Birmingham, Rugby, Leeds, Sheffield, Manchester).
What you’ll be doing:
As an HR Business Partner at Markel, you’ll build and maintain strong business relationships across assigned units, becoming a trusted partner. You’ll support business leaders in developing and achieving their people plans and will collaborate with the HR centre of excellence to deliver an industry leading people experience.
You’ll partner with the Talent team on the Talent Cycle, including performance and talent calibration, skills analysis, and team reviews. Working with the Finance team on headcount forecasting and budget processes, you’ll collaborate with the recruitment team to ensure a cohesive recruitment experience. Supporting diversity and inclusion efforts, developing and supporting employee network activities.
Additionally, you’ll assist leaders with the annual reward cycle and identify benchmarking requirements, reviewing data from the Total Reward team. Managing complex employee relations issues, including disciplinary actions, grievances, mental health, redundancies, and dismissals, will be part of your role. There may also be opportunities to manage and coach other team members.
