About Us
Ki (pronounced key), is the first fully digital and algorithmically-driven syndicate within the Lloyd’s market, and in the world. We’d like to think that Ki is transforming the follow market by modernising the broker and client experience, created for the needs of the London broker by taking an algorithmic approach to underwriting. We like to think of this as Risk, Simplified.
We began our digital journey by announcing our creation in 2020, and launching in 2021, having raised $500m of capital from Blackstone and Fairfax. Ki was the largest start-up in the history of Lloyd’s of London, and in 2021, underwrote more than $400m Gross Written Premium (GWP).
Ki launched publicly in 2021 supported by trusted partners who are pioneers in their fields. We worked with University College London to collaborate on the first algorithmic underwriting approach for speciality insurance, which evaluates policies and quotes for business through the Ki Platform. Ki was built on Google Cloud with the support of Google’s Octo Labs.
Ki can underwrite 36 classes of business, deploying follow capacity when the policy is underwritten by a nominated syndicate, where they lead or follow. When this criteria is met, Ki will offer an instant line, every time.
Ki was designed around the specific needs of the London broker. We believe in the Lloyd’s model and the future of the London market. Ki was built in London, for London.
