Job Title: Syndicate Accountant - 12 Month FTC
Type: 12 Month Fixed Term Contract
Division: Finance
Team: Syndicate Reporting (team personnel: 10)
Reports To: Senior Syndicate Accountant / Syndicate Controller
Key Relationships: Finance team, Lloyd’s of London, Banks, Actuaries, Underwriters, Ceded RI, Compliance, Technical Accounting and Auditors.
Job Summary: Responsible for supporting the Syndicate Controller in maintaining/preparing accurate syndicate accounting ledgers and providing analysis and management information to various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation of quarterly financials for seven syndicates, to include posting journals using Agresso (GL Package).
- Preparation and review of key balance sheet reconciliations on a quarterly basis.
- Support the preparation of regulatory returns for Lloyd’s or relevant regulators and tax authorities and presentation of same to management.
- Assistant with preparation and review of UK GAAP statutory accounts for seven syndicates. (FRS 102/103)
- Liaise with Group reporting manager to facilitate consolidation of the syndicate results into the parent company Beazley plc, (including calculation of any relevant IFRS adjustments).
- Analytical review of syndicate financial information including close liaison with the management reporting team.
- Production and review of note disclosures for group reporting.
- Development and maintenance of calculation processes to support preparation of quarterly financial information.
- Liaise with underwriters, actuaries, auditors, senior management and/or third parties as appropriate.
- Ad Hoc reporting including co-ordination and collection of information to prepare internal reports.
- Support Senior Syndicate Accountants and Syndicate Controller with Ad-Hoc requests and projects as necessary.
- Review output of junior team members and escalate issues to Syndicate Controller where relevant.

Personal Specification:
Essentia Criteria
- Qualified accountant(ACCA/ACA/CIMA or equivalent).
- Skills working with Excel must be at an intermediate to advanced level.
- Knowledge of IFRS/FRS102/FRS103.
Education and Qualifications
- Knowledge of insurance company accounting is advantageous.
- Knowledge of syndicate accounting is preferred but not required.
Skills and Abilities
- Must be able to work as part of a team.
- Must demonstrate the key characteristics required to coach/monitor junior staff members within the team.
- Experience working with other MS Office software to include Outlook, Word, Powerpoint.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
