Overview
We’re looking for a Junior Commercial Underwriter to join our team and support the growth of our Commercial Motor Insurance portfolio in Ireland. This is a great opportunity to develop your underwriting skills, work with brokers and clients, and contribute to our success. How you'll make an impact
- Support the underwriting of new and existing business under supervision, contributing to profitable growth.
- Participate in the development and enhancement of products to ensure competitiveness and alignment with market trends.
- Evaluating new business opportunities, by applying established underwriting practices
- Adhere to internal underwriting governance, including audits, peer reviews, and risk assessments.
- Assist in maintaining underwriting policies, documents, and processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
- Support proactive interactions with Claims, Brokers, and Clients.
- Assist in building and maintaining relationships with capacity partners and key brokers to support new business and retention efforts.
- Leverage broker relationships to enhance product offerings and expand market presence.
About You
- Basic understanding of the Commercial Motor Insurance market in Ireland, including insurance practices and procedures.
- Exposure to Commercial Motor (e.g., HGVs) insurance is an advantage.
- Previous experience in an insurance or underwriting environment is desirable but not essential.
- Working towards a recognised insurance qualification (e.g., CIP, ACII) or relevant academic background.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Willingness to learn and develop technical and professional skills.
- Basic numeracy skills with an interest in data analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Eligibility to work in the Republic of Ireland.
