The Role
We are currently hiring for a Senior Marine Underwriter to manage a broad range of moderate and complex risks within a specialist Marine portfolio. This role will apply technical underwriting expertise, sound judgement and commercial insight to assess risk, shape pricing, support broker relationships and contribute to profitable portfolio growth.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Underwrite Complex Risks: Review applications and financial requirements for risks requiring sophisticated underwriting skills, determining acceptability in line with company guidelines and standards.
Price for Profitability: Define appropriate pricing using financial and competitive analysis, ensuring decisions remain aligned with compliance requirements and underwriting authority.
Engage Brokers and Clients: Prepare quotations, respond to broker and policyholder queries, negotiate outcomes and escalate more complex issues with clear proposed solutions where required.
Manage Portfolio Quality: Analyse the quality and quantity of risks underwritten and prepare reporting for management review to support effective portfolio oversight.
Build Market Insight: Develop and maintain broker relationships, market CNA Hardy products and services, and stay current on relevant territory issues, regulations, industry activity and trends.
What We’re Looking For:
Underwriting Expertise: Strong knowledge of underwriting specifically within Marine.
Commercial Judgement: Ability to identify, analyse and solve problems, exercise independent judgement and make critical business decisions effectively.
Relationship Skills: Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams, brokers and external business partners at all levels.
Adaptability and Ownership: Capacity to work independently, learn rapidly, adapt quickly to change and manage multiple concurrent priorities with confidence.

The salary for this role will be between €5,400 and €7,000 per month
