Unique opportunity on an interim 6 Month FTC basis to lead the daily management of LIC UK Branch team. This a leadership opportunity to provide strategic oversight whilst coaching and developing the team, creating a work environment that fosters teamwork, innovation and collaboration to deliver the LIC UK Branch objectives and strategy.
- Control and oversight of the Underwriting activities (pre-bind and post-bind) in compliance with IDD.
- Drive positive performance in the underwriting function and supervise and review performance of individuals in the team.
- Support the Interim LIC Chief Underwriting Officer in fulfilling regulatory responsibilities
- Co-ordinate the oversight of Responsible for Distribution individuals (RDs)
- Develop and implement the strategy for LIC UK for both Governance and Engagement of seconded underwriters.
- Set and ensure adherence to underwriting standards and guidelines
- Cultivate effective business relationships with underwriting stakeholders, both internal and external.
- Recommend Underwriting standards, policies, guidelines to the LIC Underwriting Committee
- Working with the Interim LIC CUO Ensure that the branch meets it’s expected regulatory and operational requirements including:
- Running the UK Branch governance meetings
- Ensuring the management and control of branch risks
- Ensuring the completion of regulatory reporting requirements
- Matrix management of non-underwriting functions input into branch management
- Energise and inspire people, focus on key business activities, simplifying the complex and ensuring that the business focus on the right initiatives.
- Contribute as a thought leader in developing and influencing LIC’s Underwriting oversight strategy
- Provide inclusive and inspirational leadership that ensures the attraction, progression and retention of a high performing, diverse and effective employee population
- Demonstrate a strong awareness of the responsibilities of the role
- Deliver responsibilities in line with all relevant risk appetites, policies, reporting as necessary and providing input to governance processes of LIC
You will need to demonstrate knowledge of the commercial drivers of pricing and performance, risk and portfolio management and European regulatory and compliance standards. As a senior leader of the business you will manage c-suite stakeholder relationships and be able to influence and challenge both internally and externally as required. A unique opportunity with huge visibility across the 300+ seconded underwriters and the wider European market.
