Job Description
Main Purpose of Role
Under the guidance of the Catastrophe Modelling Portfolio Lead for the Delegated Property and Property D&F classes, the role is dedicated to advancing the objectives and strategies outlined by Property underwriters, aiming for heightened profitability and fortified portfolio resilience. This involves ensuring prompt, precise, and uniform modelling, alongside comprehensive data capture for all property accounts across Westfield’s International platforms through the rollout of automated cleansing. In addition to adhering to global data standards and the Westfield risk perspective, the role actively supports the Catastrophe Modelling Portfolio Lead's goals by providing modelling assistance across various Westfield Group product lines and fostering a seamless interface between underwriting and catastrophe modelling functions for all exposure and modelling initiatives.
Key Accountabilities
• To own end-to-end M&E Cat modelling/data capture processes, maintaining up-to-date documentation.
• To ensure property exposure data standards are well understood by Underwriting and actively monitored.
• To report and make data quality recommendations highlighting areas for improvement within property.
• To drive process efficiency by embedding technology, most notably SQL & JSON automation, within property.
• Ensure processes are aligned with Westfield best practice, exceed Lloyd’s minimum standards.
• To make risk level recommendations to drive Underwriting margin within the property classes.
• To assist and support other Westfield S1200 portfolios where necessary.
• To ensure excellent Cat modelling service levels and accuracy for the property product lines.
• To act as a Westfield representative at external forums, market bodies and conferences.

• To ensure all key property deliverables are executed at the required frequency and quality.

• To assist in aligning Westfield modelling geographies, ensuring a globally consistent approach.
• To assist in forging strong relationships with the underwriting and EM teams.

• To work closely with property underwriting leaders to improve risk selection and portfolio constitution.
• To deliver Property Underwriting goals.
• To communicate Risk Analytics strategy effectively to key property stakeholders.

Qualifications
• Excellent academic qualifications with a degree desirable but not essential.
• Strong mathematical, modelling, technical background.
• Insurance qualifications are desirable but not essential.
Technical Skills & Experience
• Experience of / proficiency in the use of mapping / analytical software, QGIS, Spatial Key etc. desirable.
• Must be proficient in Excel and the use of SQL.
• Additional programming skills, VBA, Python/R, an advantage.
• Proficient in implementing integrated AI solutions that enhance catastrophe modelling precision and efficiency, demonstrating expertise in machine learning, automation, and algorithm development to optimise risk assessment processes. Advantageous but not essential.
