About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join BMS Re’s growing London team and contribute to the creation of a new catastrophe analytics function. Working closely with existing analytics teams across the UK, US, and internationally, the role supports broking teams and clients with cutting-edge catastrophe analytics.
The role involves using industry-standard tools (e.g., RMS Moody’s, Verisk platforms), exploring non-standard tools (e.g., Fathom, KCC), and developing bespoke BMS solutions for diverse reinsurance placements, including Marine, Facultative, Energy, and Treaty. A strong client-facing element and opportunities to influence data strategies at function and group levels make this a unique role.
Key Responsibilities
- Manipulate and analyse catastrophe modelling data to support reinsurance placements.
- Produce and present catastrophe analytics insights to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Develop bespoke analytical solutions and tools to improve efficiency and capabilities.
- Collaborate across teams to provide catastrophe analytics support and aid with market submissions.
- Participate in strategic initiatives, such as new insurance products and data solutions.
- Support team development through recruitment, learning, and mentorship.
Skills and Capabilities
- Experience using catastrophe models such as RMS, AIR, KCC, or Nasdaq.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI) and SQL; knowledge of Python, R, or Alteryx is a plus.
- Geospatial analytical experience (e.g., GIS software) is beneficial.
- Strong numeracy, literacy, and problem-solving skills.
