Risk Optimisation, Catastrophe Analytics – Reinsurance
The Portfolio Optimisation (PO) function creates a competitive advantage through industry-leading decision making enabled by comprehensive data and cross-functional analytics. This position is a senior role within the Risk Optimisation team which comprises of Catastrophe Analytics, Exposure and Capital Modelling.
You will take ownership of reinsurance catastrophe modelling analytics and ensure timely and high-quality catastrophe modelling output through managing our third-party modelling team. In addition, you will work closely together with other reinsurance experts across pricing, planning, ceded reinsurance, capital, constantly evolving our market leading tooling and analytics.
Active engagement and building strong relationships with underwriting will be key, resulting in increased transparency and confidence in the analytics provided. Finally, you will be an important and active mentor to junior modellers in your team.
Key Responsibilities
- Influence and contribute to PO strategic goals within Reinsurance through working collaboratively across PO.
- Provide leadership within catastrophe modelling across change management, analytics, model evaluation and vendor relationships.
- Manage partnership with the third-party modelling team to ensure accurate and timely completion of reporting, including pre- and post-bind, ceded and external requirements. Furthermore, provide guidance and continuous improvement of processes.
- Nurture excellent relationships with underwriters, focused at providing superior service and reliable intelligence.
- Coach and mentor junior team members, helping them excel in their day-to-day work and stimulate learning.
- Support regulatory reporting, ceded reinsurance, risk management and business planning requirements.
- Proactively progress and influence ongoing projects within PO.
- Support specialty reinsurance and casualty reinsurance modelling as and when required.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- Demonstrate robust experience in the field of catastrophe modelling, with a focus on reinsurance.
- Expert knowledge and user of DFA tools, third-party cat models and back tables within reinsurance.
- Effective communication and influencing skills across a wide variety of stakeholders across the business.
- Collaborative in nature with a passion for mentoring and helping other team members thrive.
- Efficient and organised, with a mindset for continuous improvement.
- Coding skills in SQL/R/ Python or other, would be advantageous.
