Our Marine team comprises a global team with an established track record and reputation. We provide a comprehensive range of wet and dry shipping and trade and commodity services for clients across the maritime sector.
This is a truly exciting time to join us, as we look to expand our team, offering breadth and scope of work to individuals specialising in, or wishing to specialise in the Marine sector.
The Opportunity
We are looking for an Associate to join our London team, led by Christopher Chatfield, Shaan Burton, Patrick Foss, Graeme Baird and Christopher Zavos. The role will include supporting the Energy and Marine team with existing work with a view to building up your own sources of work both in London and overseas.
You will have access to quality work from the outset, working cross jurisdictionally for a range of clients. You will be given early autonomy with full support of the global Kennedys Marine network. There will be the opportunity to work alongside our Singapore and Hong Kong offices under Nick Francis and Karnan Thirupathy.
You can expect to assist on a wide variety of disputes across all classes of Marine insurance (coverage, liability, defence and subrogation), Insurance policy and commercial drafting, and dry shipping disputes.
The work on dry shipping matters is primarily related to disputes arising under contracts of carriage, in particular in charterparty and bill of lading disputes involving a variety of both standard and bespoke contracts.
