Senior Planning Analyst
Division: Financial Planning Team within Financial Performance
Reports To: As per Beazley’s organisation chart
Key Relationships: Executive Management, Intergrated Planning Oversight Group (IPOG) Finance Leadership Team, Finance Performance Management, Finance Group & Statutory Reporting, Strategic Planning Team, Capital Team, Investments Team, Group Actuarial, Ceded Reinsurance, Underwriting Teams, and other Business Users.
Job Summary: Specialist insurance company Beazley is seeking a Senior Planner within it’s Finance function to work closely with a wide range of stakeholders across the business. Reporting to the Head of Financial Planning this role will involve ensuring quality and consistency of theme across all plans produced in full, or in subset used in downstream reporting, by the Financial Planning Team. The role includes reviewing and enhancing where necessary the current Integrated Planning Framwork ensuring the timetabling of planning deliverables fit with the corporate, regulatory and internal MI timelines, and will ensure allignment to the objectives the group Intergrated Planning Oversight Group (IPOG). This person will therefore be the central coordinator of the integrated planning framework in practice. The role does not involve processing or transformation of data, rather analysis, critical thinking (from a group, all platform POV) and presentational skills are core traits of this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Initially, work alongside the Head of Financial Planning to map out (detailing the interconnectivity of plans/data) the integrated planning framework, refreshing work that was last performed in 2022 for the IPOG. This work will inform the basis of an annual planning calendar, which will be coordinated by the Senior Planner.
- Take ownership of the downstream reporting of outputs from the central (GAAP Annual and Medium Term) plans in produced in the Financial Planning Team. This will include but not be limited to ownership of the US Stat plans used with in the RBC process, GAAP outputs used in Group Solvency II plans, European long term planning output used in annual Solvency II CBI submissions and quarterly Lloyd’s Flash planning.
- Provide critique of process and analytical review of the main central plans. The role will ensure alignment to current or evolving actuals processes, including change in accounting treatments brough about change/projects, on group and statutory GAAP plans while also performing ad hoc reviews within planning cycles to ensure quality – albeit, ownership of central planning data used Exec reporting or in actuals AvE analysis/controls does not reside in this role.
- Communicate both written and verbally with Finance leadership and Executive Management with regards to the plan P&L and MI results, ensuring clear articulation of the key drivers. On occasion, be prepared to backfill senior duties of the Head of Financial Planning, such as presenting to the Exec Co and to local and PLC Boards.
- Take ownership of the monthly group growth projection work to give senior management an up to date high quality insights which will enable them to take appropriate action and use in market messaging. This workstream will require collaboration with the investor relations team.
- Represent the Financial Planning Team on the majority of projects which involve a upcoming change in process or accounting treatment due to commercial or structural evolution. Given the roles broad coverage across the 3 geographical UW platforms, this person will be expected to provide key insight to project working groups not only from a planning process POV but also from a commercial and regulatory angle.
- Deal with ad hoc reporting requests. Namely, be prepared to give updates on premium growth statistics and expense ratios between cycles as input data become available or macros economic factors (such as FX rates) develop.
- Review and enhance the current Financial planning capability in Workday Adaptive and offering towards streamlining and automating the aforementioned owned downstream reporting, working as an SME on the development of: phased (HY/QY) forecasting (Lloyd’s requirement), plan balance sheet (US and SII requirement) for annual and medium term plans with a view to remove all EUC processing/ data transformation in the medium term.
- Although not a core deliverable of the role, collaboration with the IFRS 17 and strategic planning team will be required in understanding the differences of the two standards and to identify synergies between each process.
- Work with the Head of Financial Planning and their management team to foster a culture that values employee experience, empowerment and wellbeing alongside amplifying the team’s overall capabilities

Education and Qualifications
- Experienced qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) of at least 5 years PQE.
- Experience of the insurance market, preferably Lloyd’s
- Experience of planning roles within complex insurance organisations and knowledge of accounting policies adopted.
- Experience using and developing the capabilities of EPM planning Tools (such as Workday Adaptive) is preferred but not essential.
