Division: Group Reporting & Tax
Reports To: Group Operational Lead Accountant

Role Overview: The Group Accountant will take a key role within the delivery of Group operations, ensuring financial outputs are accurate, consistent, and reliable. This role will collaborate closely with senior finance and actuarial stakeholders to ensure robust reporting processes and controls.
Responsibilities
Group Accounting Assumptions, Expense Process & Controls
- Production of accounting assumptions, ensuring alignment with IFRS requirements and technical guidance.
- Contribute towards actuals, budgeting, and forecasting processes, leading the preparation and development of robust controls throughout.
Data Reconciliation & Integrity
- Preparation of key data reconciliations to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Reconcile outputs and IFRS 17 calculation engine data transformations to ensure internal consistency and traceability.
Finance Operations & Ledger Posting
- Carrying out IFRS 17 model runs and journal posting to the ledger.
- Preparation of manual adjustments required as part of the group close process
- Lead the reversal of GAAP postings within the ledger to ensure correct consolidation of the Group result in line with accounting standards
- Operation of ledger rollover transactions, ensuring appropriate accounting and documentation.
- Lead the development of controls and efficient processes within the Workday ledger system.
Governance & Reporting
- Assist the Operational Lead Accountant with ledger control, including the opening and closing of accounting periods.
- Analysis of the group ledger and supporting junior members of the team in preparation and review of ledger postings
- Own the IFRS 17 to GAAP reconciliation process for the IFRS 17 Governance Forum.
- Collaborate with the both Actuarial and Group Reporting teams to support the successful delivery of Beazley plc’s Annual and Interim Reports, IMS & IFRS 17 Governance Packs.
Technical Compliance & Oversight
- Assist the Group Operational Lead Accountant to ensure continued compliance with IFRS accounting assumptions.
- Ensure all postings and processes are in line with technical oversight papers as set by the Technical Accounting team and Operational Lead Accountant.

Personal Specification
Education and Qualifications
- University degree in any discipline
- Professional accountancy qualification, preference for ACA/ACCA, or qualified by experience
Skills And Abilities
- Highly technical in accountancy skills, especially UK GAAP and IFRS
- General commercial and financial knowledge
- Insurance and Lloyd’s specific knowledge
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Advanced excel skills, including PowerQuery/PowerPivot

Knowledge And Experience
- Proven post qualification experience, preferably gained within regulatory reporting in the Insurance sector
- Experience of preparation and review of financial controls
