Assistant Accountant
Job Location: London
Job Type: Permanent
Remuneration: Competitive salary taking into account skills, experience and qualifications
We have a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Accountant in our London office on a hybrid basis.
The Assistant Accountant supports Sedgwick International UK with end‑to‑end accounting across People costs, Revenue and Intercompany. Reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant, the role helps maintain accurate financial records and contributes to improving processes, controls and reconciliations.
In this position, you will work closely with Finance, Operations and Corporate teams, using analysis to provide clear insight. The role also offers exposure to the insurance services sector and the pace of a private‑equity‑backed environment.
Day to day, you will complete reconciliations across systems and the balance sheet, prepare monthly journals, and make sure all entries are accurate and posted on time with support from our offshore team. You will also take ownership of revenue, payroll and intercompany accounting, handle queries and produce variance analysis as required. Alongside this, you will support the audit process, assist with strengthening financial controls, and help communicate new processes across the team.
Additional support for the wider finance function may be required at times.
Many colleagues benefit from hybrid working, and this role includes a minimum of two days per week in the London office. Time in the office offers bright, open spaces, good areas for collaboration and dedicated workstations, helping you stay connected with colleagues and maintain a positive work/life balance.
This is perfect for someone who enjoys detailed financial work, likes collaborating with others, and wants to grow their skills in a busy and evolving finance environment.
The skills you will have when you apply:
- Assistant Accountant Experience – Proven tenure in an Assistant Accountant post, or an equivalent industry role, covering Month End activity and financial control routines within a corporate setting, completed with consistent accuracy.
- Professional Qualification Progress – Active progression towards a recognised qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent), showing continued professional and technical development.
- Communication and Escalation – An assured communicator able to judge when matters require escalation or formal raising, ensuring robust professional standards are maintained.
- Autonomous and Proactive Working Style – A self‑directed individual who works autonomously, adopts a proactive stance, and maintains a continuous‑improvement mindset across all activity.
- Power BI Capability – Competent in Power BI, with the ability to interpret, manipulate, and present data within advanced reporting environments.
- US GAAP Process Knowledge – Prior exposure to revenue, payroll, and intercompany processes under US GAAP, which will be considered advantageous.
