Job overview:
We’re looking for a Business Resilience Manager to help AXA Commercial deliver a profitable underwriting result and generate positive customer engagement. This role is responsible for risk identification, and elimination or control by conducting on site and remote surveys. Providing appropriate, clear and accurate reports of findings will successfully reduce risk exposures to AXA UK and its customers. This role will be based in Scotland, primarily covering the central belt area with travel to other areas as required.
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct on-site and remote surveys of complex and high-value risks across Commercial Insurance to identify, eliminate, or control exposures.
- Provide clear, accurate reports to help reduce risk exposures, support profitability, and enhance customer resilience.
- Offer technical guidance and support to underwriters and external customers on survey and non-survey risk cases.
- Prioritize survey workload to ensure customer requirements and service standards are met effectively.
- Evaluate risks related to commercial Property, Motor fleet, and Liability, and deliver technical reports for underwriting and pricing purposes.
- Identify risks outside of underwriting appetite and advise underwriters on risk quality, rating, and potential impacts on profitability.
- Collaborate with underwriters to develop and agree on risk improvement measures, including timescales for implementation.
- Support training for new underwriters and risk managers, including risk assessment and control techniques, to develop their expertise,
Work arrangements:
At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients or attending industry events. We’re also happy to consider flexible working arrangements, which you can discuss with Talent Acquisition.
You’ll work full time, 35 hours per week over 5 days. As you'll be travelling over 10,000 business miles per annum, you'll receive a company car or car allowance.
Your skills & experience:
- Relevant professional qualifications such as ACII, NEBOSH National General Certificate, CMIOSH, or CFPA Diploma in Fire Safety Management are desirable.
- Extensive knowledge of risk identification, assessment, and improvement techniques, standards, and hazard types by occupancy.
- Familiarity with building regulations and relevant international standards and safety principles.
- Strong customer-focused approach with excellent presentation, negotiation, and communication skills, including clear risk reporting.
- Proven experience in Property and Liability and possibly motor fleet risk surveying, with a good understanding of underwriting practices.
- Ability to evaluate and specify risk protections for fire, security, water, flood, business interruption, and liability coverages.
- Experience handling complex risks with premiums over £100,000, including technical risk assessments is beneficial.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations, risk standards, and the ability to train and support underwriters and risk managers.
