About the Role:
The EMEA Transfer Pricing Specialist will support the preparation and coordination of EMEA transfer pricing documentation, contribute to the overall comparability analysis and technical projects, and act as a point of support for the wider team on transfer pricing matters across the region. This is a hands-on role requiring strong knowledge of OECD Transfer Pricing Guidelines and a working knowledge of EU transfer pricing regimes. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute ideas to improve ways of working, and work closely with local finance teams, external advisers and the wider LII Tax team.
About the Department & Team:
The LII Tax Department is comprised of a dynamic team of tax professionals managing LII's internal tax matters and compliance processes as well as supporting other internal functions and businesses across the GRS network across the globe. This role sits within the GRS Cross-Border Enablement team, within the LII Tax function, and provides transfer pricing ('TP') services to the GRS business across the EMEA region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the preparation and coordination of EMEA transfer pricing documentation, including coordination with and supporting the review of work produced by external advisers.
- Support the overall comparability analysis through delivery of benchmarking studies and functional analyses.
- Support the review and monitoring of intra-group transactions and intercompany agreements.
- Support BEAT assessments and cross-border cost impact modelling, working with US and EMEA finance colleagues.
- Support the provision of technical transfer pricing input into EMEA tax authority queries and audits, working alongside the colleagues and external advisers.
- Assist in monitoring and mitigating Permanent Establishment (PE) risk, providing transfer pricing input as required.
- Support the maintenance and update of transfer pricing policies, Standard Operating Procedures and process documentation for specific countries and entities.
- Support the identification of risks arising from business change, including restructuring or entering new territories, leading to new or existing controlled transactions, escalating as appropriate.
- Support the continuous improvement of transfer pricing processes and controls (for example, cost allocation models), actively engaging with the evaluation and adoption of new technology, automation and AI-enabled tools to drive efficiency and accuracy.
Business Partnering and Stakeholder Management:
- Build and maintain relationships with key internal stakeholders across Finance and other functions that impact transfer pricing.
- Support the rolling education programme by helping raise awareness in the business of transfer pricing requirements.
- Support management of relationships with EMEA tax authorities in respect of transfer pricing matters.
- Support tax authority audits and enquiries.
- Support day-to-day coordination with external transfer pricing advisers, helping review deliverables for accuracy and completeness.
Skills and Experience:
- Qualified accountant or tax adviser (e.g. ACA, CTA, ACCA or equivalent), or a relevant Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Law or Business.
- Experience of, or exposure to, transfer pricing, gained in industry, a professional services firm, or through a relevant academic or analytical background.
- Good working knowledge of OECD Transfer Pricing Guidelines and BEPS requirements; exposure to EU transfer pricing regimes is desirable.
- Strong financial and economic analysis skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and support benchmarking analyses.
- An understanding of, or willingness to learn, international accounting standards (US GAAP and Lux GAAP/UK GAAP).
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; comfortable learning new finance/TP systems and interested in process automation and technology tools, particularly AI.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, able to explain transfer pricing concepts clearly to non-specialist stakeholders.
- Good relationship-building skills across internal teams and external advisers.
- Well organised, able to manage multiple deliverables and deadlines simultaneously.
- A proactive, self-starting approach, keen to identify and support process improvements.
- A second language is helpful given the EMEA remit, but not essential.
- A willingness to travel would be advantageous.
