How you'll make an impact- Gathering data from various sources, such as databases, APIs, and external systems, and integrating it into a centralized data warehouse or data lake.
- Cleaning, validating, and transforming raw data into a structured format that can be easily analyzed and used for business intelligence purposes.
- Designing and implementing data models and database schemas that support efficient data storage, retrieval, and analysis.
- Building and maintaining data pipelines that automate the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes, ensuring the smooth flow of data from source systems to the data warehouse.
- Implementing data quality checks and ensuring data integrity and consistency throughout the data lifecycle. Establishing data governance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.
- Monitoring and optimizing the performance of data systems, including database queries, ETL processes, and data pipelines, to ensure efficient data processing and analysis.
- Implementing security measures to protect sensitive data and ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations, such as GDPR or CCPA.
- Working closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand their data requirements and provide them with the necessary data infrastructure and tools.
- Identifying and resolving issues related to data pipelines, database performance, or data quality, and providing technical support to resolve data-related problems.
- Staying updated with the latest technologies, tools, and best practices in data engineering, and continuously improving data engineering processes and infrastructure to enhance efficiency and scalability.
About You- Bachelor's or equivalent degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
- Proven experience in data engineering or a related role, with a strong understanding of data architecture and data integration principles.
- Key Skills, roughly in order of importance
- Microsoft Azure environment
- Snowflake
- SSIS
- T-SQL
- ETL principals such as SCD types, SQL CDC, etc.
- Azure Data Factory
- Synapse Analytics
- Azure DevOps (particularly collaborating using Git)
- Microsoft SQL Database
- Azure Storage/ Data Lake
- SSRS/PowerBI development
- Python
- Previous experience in a data engineering or related role, working with large-scale data systems and handling complex data pipelines, is highly desirable.
