Introduction
At RSA, we believe insurance is about people, not things. We provide our inspiring colleagues the support and opportunity to grow together, shape the future, and win as a team. We are going through a transformation journey, providing our people with opportunity to be integral to improving our service and delivering better products to brokers and customers. We are a proud member of the Intact family, we feel part of something bigger, with a presence in North America, the UK and Europe.
We have a bold ambition to become the best Commercial Lines business in the UK, demonstrated by our recent acquisition of NIG and Farmweb, allowing us to scale by leveraging our combined financial strength and importantly ensure our people feel the benefits of our joint capabilities.
We are currently recruiting for a Media Relations Manager to join our established and experienced External Affairs team here at RSA on a hybrid basis.
Your role
As a Media Relations Manager at RSA, you will play a critical role in shaping and safeguarding the company’s reputation with the media, third parties, and other key stakeholders. Your work will be central to the success of RSA’s External Affairs strategy, driving corporate campaigns that enhance our public profile and reputation.
You will be the first to identify reputational risks and public interest issues, devising timely strategies to protect RSA’s brand. This includes handling and mitigating negative media coverage, ensuring any inaccuracies are corrected promptly.
Working closely with the Head of External Affairs, you will lead media relations programmes across a variety of UK media platforms, offering expert counsel to internal stakeholders on media issues that could impact the business. Your role will also involve liaising with senior journalists, managing media enquiries, and coordinating responses to regulatory and political developments.
Additionally, you will be responsible for developing and delivering consistent corporate messaging across the business, coaching senior colleagues for media opportunities, and evaluating the success of media activities.
About you
We’re seeking a strategic communicator with proven experience in media relations and campaign management. You will have a deep understanding of how the media works, including its influence on other stakeholders, and the ability to manage complex media issues, particularly in challenging situations.
You’ll be a confident media liaison, skilled in managing high-pressure situations while delivering clear, persuasive communications. With a talent for building relationships with journalists and other external stakeholders, you’ll also be able to guide and advise senior internal teams, ensuring consistency and effectiveness in all messaging.
A driven self-starter, you will be highly organised and able to deliver exceptional results under tight deadlines, working independently or leading cross-functional teams. Experience in financial services or regulated industries is advantageous, as is an understanding of UK financial sectors and their unique challenges.
Your ability to provide clear counsel, coupled with excellent written and verbal communication skills, will be key in driving RSA’s media relations and reputation management.

At RSA we put our people first. We have adopted hybrid working as standard, to give you a better work/life balance and an excellent flexible working mindset. That is on top of a comprehensive range of benefits, including pension contributions of up to 11% looking after you now, and in the future.
We’ll give you countless opportunities to continuously develop, alongside a diverse and passionate community of experts – the best the industry has to offer. You’ll be empowered to be your best self, do your best work, and make a meaningful impact. Our employee promise allows you to shape the future, win as a team, and grow with us.
