What Is the Opportunity?
Travelers are recruiting for a Propositions and Product Strategy Director to join our team based in London.
This is an exciting role where you will act as the product conscience for the business, evaluating market opportunities, aligning products with business performance and customer needs, and driving decisions based on data and insights. It focuses on guiding the creation of market-winning propositions by challenging the business to make sound decisions.
This role ensures the development of market-winning propositions and products by managing and overseeing proposition and product development strategies. Responsibilities include leading the design council process, maintaining the product documentation library, and developing product lifecycle reviews. The role requires close collaboration with senior business leaders, P&Ls, product and wordings teams, underwriters, strategic planning, compliance, and experience teams. While it does not involve direct people management, it holds accountability for ensuring the delivery of outcomes by others.
Travelers Europe currently offers flexibility to employees who wish to work on a hybrid basis in accordance with our Hybrid Work Arrangements Policy. This entails full time employees working three days a week in the office and two days at home (or pro rata for part-time employees). This policy may be changed at the Company’s discretion.
This role is eligible for a £2500 new joiner bonus. If you are successfully referred by an employee at Travelers Europe, both you and the person who referred you could be eligible for this bonus.
What Will You Do?
- Strategic partner for the business, providing product/proposition advice and guidance, but also ensuring the work that comes into the process is strategic, with both a Travelers benefit and a customer benefit
- Be the expert on the role of product in our business and how to get propositions and products designed, tested and built effectively
- Manage and oversee proposition and product development strategy
- Be the propositions and product conscience within our business, so identifying and scoping opportunities, assessing market attractiveness, understanding the distribution landscape and understanding what we need to do to win
- It will have responsibility for driving propositions outcomes, running the design council meeting and process and overseeing the delivery of propositions and products, making sure we are working on the right things to deliver a result
- This role will also manage the documentation library and process
- This role will be working across a number of functions and in support of all the business units.
- This person will be required to have a long term forward view of the plans we have and be readying us for the work we need to do in advance
- Working with the different teams to ensure shared goals (OKRs), understanding of interdependencies and identification of early areas of disconnect
- Communications, meetings and stakeholder management: Ensuring we have the right communications / meeting cadence both within the team and with our stakeholders; and ensuring those comms / meetings are efficient and make the best use of the wider team, to both aid the business and build our teams profiles
- Reporting:
- Leading and ensuring we have the right reporting structure in place, reporting on both the work we do and the impact it has for our business
- Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
- Must understand proposition and product design and build from a management and oversight point of view
- Must have commercial awareness, ensuring that what we put into market is both good for Travelers and good for our customers
- Must have the ability to work effectively within a matrixed organisation
- Past experience driving innovation, leveraging emerging platforms and moving quickly to get new ideas and platforms to market preferred.
- Strong communication, storytelling, negotiation and influencing ability and a track record of working cross-functionally to build relationships with business units And functions
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
- Intermediate ability to lead by influence and example, particularly in situations where ambiguity and a lack of clarity exists.
- Advanced ability to influence others across functions and levels of organization, including senior management.
- Advanced ability to see results to completion and to lead others to do so as well.
