Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Motor Engineering Manager to have accountabilty and oversight of our Automotive Engineering department.
This role requires indepth knowledge of the body repair industry, salvage categories, and total loss processes, along with a comprehensive understanding of the motor supply chain.
Experience in claims management and the ability to present in client meetings and contribute to tender submissions are essential.
How you'll make an impact
- Collaborate with the Motor and Property Fulfilment Director to develop new procedures ensuring high standards of work
- Develop new products and market-leading solutions for our expanding client base
- Serve as a referral point for the Senior Engineer and Engineering team regarding repairs and technical queries
- Conduct investigations and resolve repair complaints and client enquiries
- Act as a mentor to team members
- Liaise with all aspects of our supply chain and customer base
- Provide expertise regarding the repair management process to other departments within Gallagher Bassett
- Assess, value, and negotiate repair costs when required
- Maintain and complete the established ongoing audit program in line with department requirements
- Establish and maintain relationships with key customers
- Deliver on customer needs to ensure efficiency and quality of repairs
- Take ownership of decisions and outcomes, enabling the team to be accountable
- Fulfil commitments, communicate challenges, and reassess priorities
- Develop people and teams, working with the Senior Engineer to ensure an effective training pathway is in place
- Lead the team by example, managing performance, succession planning, compliance, and development activities
- Oversee department annual leave and workforce capacity planning
About You
- Proven technical experience from a bodywork background, ideally achieved or working towards ATA / IAEA / IMI qualification
- Substantial engineering experience, ideally in a management role
- Excellent knowledge of up-to-date estimating systems
- Detailed knowledge of repair methods involved in repairing modern motor vehicles
- Ability to plan ahead and manage changing and conflicting priorities
- Understand the company’s position in the market and balance client needs with company requirements and capabilities
- Appropriately Qualified Person (AQP) assessment completed
- Analytical and mathematical skills to evaluate and solve complex problems
- Organisational competencies and project management skills to keep projects, processes, and the entire engineering team on track
- Self-motivated with the ability to multitask and thrive in a timeline-driven environment
- Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to distil complicated topics to a broader audience
