Data Solutions, Customer Onboarding Team
Bell & Clements aims to provide US-based Managing General Agents (MGAs), Coverholders, and Third-Party Administrators (TPAs) with the most comprehensive, efficient, and time-sensitive reporting process available among carriers to manage binding authority contracts.
Based in London, the Customer Onboarding Lead reports to the Chief Innovation Officer and is part of the Data Solutions Department. The Customer Onboarding Team is responsible for designing and building data models to capture standardised premium and claims datasets that meet the business and market requirements within which B&C operates and ultimately onboard our clients to the datasets.
The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Customer Onboarding Lead with a strong background in insurance data and client integrations. This role is critical to building and refining insurance datasets while developing integration specifications to ensure seamless data onboarding of our US-based MGAs and TPA’s.
Responsibilities
You will oversee all aspects of the onboarding process and will require excellent communication skills and experience in managing the expectations of various stakeholders. You should have acquired a comprehensive understanding of Insurance in order to converse with the business, whether that be Claims, Underwriting, Broking, to ensure their data requirements are being captured from source systems.
You will also be expected to create sample datasets, own the creation of test cases, by leveraging the knowledge gained in the requirements gathering to shape key test cases and outcomes.
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to lead the design and build out of insurance datasets, ensuring data quality, integrity, and compliance with industry standards.
- Manage internal resources to help clients achieve a smooth and successful onboarding process.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients during the onboarding phase.
- Initiate client integration projects in alignment with a flexible project management governance framework, taking ownership of producing all necessary artifacts.
- Work with MGAs/TPA’s and vendors to lead the integration of insurance datasets, ensuring seamless real time or monthly data exchanges.
- Work closely with stakeholders to create data mapping strategies for smooth data transfer between systems.
- Build schema definitions for XML and JSON data formats including Excel, ensuring consistency and accuracy across data exchanges.
- Ensure all integrations are tested and signed off before going live.
- Plan, schedule, monitor, and report activities related to all client onboarding projects with regular communication on progress and identify risks/issues to all key stakeholders.
- Address and resolve risks or blockers during the integration process.
- Proactively identify areas for improvement, define the changes and accelerate their implementation to enhance integration delivery and improve the customer experience.
- Mentor and manage team members, fostering growth and performance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their technical requirements and providing tailored support for successful data integration and API adoption.
- Facilitate information-gathering workshops with stakeholders.
- Own the creation and review of technical documentation, including API guides, data models, and integration specifications.
- Provide technical guidance and support to clients during the onboarding process, including technical guidance on integration of systems, field mappings, API key provisioning, authentication, and data formatting.
- Collaborate with clients and IT teams to test and validate API integrations, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
Key Skills and Experience
- Business Analysis knowledge and experience gained within the insurance industry, preferably Lloyd’s of London and other Company Markets.
- Strong understanding of insurance data models, including claims, policies, and contracts.
- Familiarity with data formats, including JSON, XML, and CSV.
- Proficiency in manipulating and analysing data using tools like Excel or Dataiku.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to assimilate large amounts of information into concise summaries.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships and collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, capable of facilitating workshops and producing high-quality documentation.
- Commitment to continuous learning and development.
- Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies.

This position is offered on a Permanent basis. Annual salary will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful candidate. Annual leave - 25 days per year (plus bank holidays), increases with length of service.
