Job Description: Pricing Analytics Actuary
How does this role contribute to our collective success?
The Pricing function supports underwriters and management in building robust and profitable portfolios by providing objective insights through deep product expertise and by utilizing state-of-the-art functional capabilities.
The Portfolio Management and Pricing Analytics team sits within the Pricing function and is responsible for enterprise-wide analytics to aid portfolio steering and oversees cross-product initiatives to ensure consistency across the group.
The Pricing Analytics Actuary provides technical model support to the Pricing function and has deep knowledge of our modelling capabilities, particularly for outwards reinsurance purchasing and direct transactional pricing.
What will you do in this role?
- Become an expert in AXIS’s outwards reinsurance structures and how it is modelled acting as the link between the Pricing and Capital Modelling teams.
- Run non-proportional outwards reinsurance structure options in the internal model and provide the model output to the pricing actuaries enabling them to optimise our outwards reinsurance purchases.
- Use the internal model to determine the ceded recovery rate and reinstatement premium rate assumptions for the Group and Syndicate business plans.
- Develop, maintain and document a central ceded analysis template for the pricing actuaries to use.
- Review output from ceded analytics and collate feedback to improve the next set of underwriting parameters.
- Create pricing platform prototypes and specifications for the IT system developers and liaise with them regularly to provide feedback and ensure the enhancement delivered is aligned with the requirements.
- Maintain documentation of the pricing platform calculations.
- Assist the team with providing technical pricing model support, such as answering queries from underwriters and pricing actuaries and fixing bugs that arise in models which are not supported by IT.

About You:

What you need to have:
- Nearly / Newly attained Associateship or Fellowship of an accredited Actuarial Society, or commensurate experience
- Ability to run and update stochastic / simulation models, ideally in Tyche
- Ability to build and maintain models in Excel VBA, and query databases using SQL
- Ability to build relationships, collaborate and establish credibility with all stakeholders
- Adaptive communication style with the ability to communicate technical model concepts to less technical audiences
- Growth mind-set with a desire to seek diverse thought, learn from others and share knowledge
