The Role
The Marine & Energy Treaty reinsurance underwriting team are based in London and write close to $80m of income for Lloyds Syndicates, Global Insurance Companies as well as International Cedants. This role would be to support the existing underwriting management, develop and renew the existing portfolio.

Responsibilities will include:
- Develop and assist in the maintenance of the Marine & Energy treaty product line.
- Negotiate, assess and underwrite renewal and new business in a timely and efficient manner in line with the business plan and personal authority limits.
- Support the team with broker interaction, modelling, strategic thinking, emerging risk analysis and business planning
- Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and clients with a view to growth of existing and production of new business
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal procedures, aggregate management for peak risks using Allphins
- Pricing of programmes utilising our internal model
- Compile underwriting reports and presentations as appropriate
- Maintain good relationships with both external and internal parties as appropriate
- Compile statistics and understand performance of all risks and accounts
- Review and finalise contract wordings
- Liaise with Canopius colleagues in Bermuda and Singapore to ensure consistent messaging and understanding of market trends
- Maintain and update own professional knowledge/qualifications/training as required
- Be willing to travel to visit overseas clients and attend market conferences and seminars
Skills and experience:
- Lloyd’s or company market experience (broking or underwriting), of at least 4 years in a client/broker facing role
- Technical knowledge of Marine and Energy Reinsurance
- IT (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) literate to at least an advanced level
- Able to work both in a team environment and unsupervised on their own in a collaborative fashion
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
