Real Estate Assistant Underwriter

Job Description
This is a role created to support the Real Estate Practice business to grow and develop in line with the Groups growth plan. The role is to assist in the processing of new and renewal package business within the UKI Real Estate Practice team based in London. The ideal candidate will initially support the underwriting team in delivering a high quality service to our underwriters & Brokers whilst developing technical and broader business skills in this specialist industry practice to enable them to develop the appropriate underwriting skill set working under the close supervision of an underwriter.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the underwriting and processing of new and renewable package business in line with our underwriting appetite, authority limits and business plan.
- To work in conjunction with the team to ensure efficient working practices are in place and adhered to as per established package underwriting guidelines
- To support the underwriting team through liaison with and participation at meetings with brokers, clients, internal departments and external advisers.
- To provide assistance to underwriters for creating, running and monitoring exposure reports.
- To work within the framework of the Chubb Code of Conduct, Compliance policies and within the framework of the protocols established by the Company
- Project based work in line with duties.
Qualifications
- A background in the insurance market is required together with an understanding of reading and interpreting exposures analysis.
- The ideal candidate will need to demonstrate a practical and common sense approach to dealing with differing situations and an ability to solve problems often against tight timeframes
- Minimum A level standard.
- Competent in Microsoft Office.
- Expected to undertake “on the job” training
- Keen to embark on, or working towards completion of the ACII
