Head of CFO Office
GSI4 consists of Munich Re Specialty Group (MRSG) and its subsidiaries including Munich Re Syndicate Ltd (Lloyds Managing Agent) and its International Distribution Companies (IDCs) as well as other units where GSI4 holds the legal and or management responsibility.
This role is responsible to support the Group CFO and the Finance function to execute its strategy in support of the GSI4 6 Block.
Responsibilities:
As the Head of CFO Office you will be expected to excel in your day to day whilst also delivering on these areas:
General Responsibilities:
- Support the Group CFO on department strategic objectives including
- Assist in planning and executing Finance Strategic projects and initiatives
- Attend meetings on behalf of the Group CFO.
- Monitor and report on project program progress, ensuring milestones are met
- Consolidate, monitor and report on Finance & Actuarial KPI's, SLA's
- Consolidate, monitor and report on Finance & Actuarial team playbooks (includes team objectives and development plans etc)
- Manage the Group CFO Delegated task Microsoft Planner site
- Coordinate the preparation of Exco/Board papers
- Complete summaries of pre-read documentation received
- Coordinate the Finance & Actuarial compulsory training timetable (IDD etc.)
- Prepare internal Finance & Actuarial comms e.g. briefing material - IO coordination between UK, US and Singapore
- Maintain & update the Finance & Actuarial Group CFO Playbook
Strategy:
- Assist with the development of key strategic initiatives for GSI4.
- Assist with the development and implementation of GSI4’s financial and actuarial strategy.
- Support the Group CFO in overseeing the finance activities of all MRSG Group companies.
- Develop effective relationships at appropriate levels within Munich Re and Lloyd’s departments that supports the the work of the finance and actuarial functions.
- Leadership:
- Support the Group CFO to improve staff development.
- Ensure sharing of best practice to build capability of staff.
- Ensure the most effective use of staff resources.
- Seek exchange of knowledge and talents within GSI other Munich Re entities and Lloyds.
- Management and Controls:
- Support the Group CFO in exercising strong financial oversight of the IT SSO that is located in the MRSGUKS legal entity.
- Assist in ensuring that Syndicate 457 and Syndicate 1840 fully complies with all applicable Lloyd's requirements including Lloyd's Minimum Standards.
- Support the Group CFO in monitoring GSI4 and propose corrective measures as necessary to ensure long term profitability.
- Promote best practice principles in all areas of responsibilities within GSI4.
- Support the Group CFO in ensuring effective systems and internal controls within GSI4 ensuring the complete, accurate and timely recording of all relevant underwriting, claims, financial or other important information and data (MI information).
Knowledge and Skills
- Financial services experience at management level
- Experience in the Financial sector including the London market with prior financial experience within a Lloyd’s Syndicate preferred
- Able to demonstrate repeated successful management within existing area of expertise and preferable multiple areas of the Finance/Actuarial value chain.
- Excellent communication skills
- Sound knowledge of governance and risk management standards
- Knowledge of UK GAAP/ IFRS accounting rules, key Solvency II methodological features; understanding of actuarial valuation and judgement
- University Degree and professional accounting or actuarial qualification.
