Public Policy Manager
Salary between £60,000 - £70,000 (depending on skills, experience, and qualifications)
Here at Aviva, we are looking for a Public Policy / Public Affairs professional, who has excellent knowledge of politics and/or policy work, ideally matched with either an insurance or financial services background. If you have a deep interest in politics, matched with ambition to progress further in your public affairs career, we’d love you to hear from you!
A bit about the job:
Government policy has a huge impact on Aviva – and this role offers an excellent opportunity to work right at the heart of some of the biggest policy challenges affecting our business today, helping us shape and respond to the policy environment in which we operate! You will provide expert advice on the political and legislative developments that affect us – particularly focused on pensions policy and digital/AI policy – becoming a trusted counsel, both internally and externally, engaging with policy makers, trade bodies, and wider stakeholders, to influence the legal and policy environment (FYI: this part of the role will involve an element of travel, both across London and occasionally UK wide). You will also need to complete analysis of government policy and legislation, as well as build consensus across the business on policy positions, priorities, and engagement strategy.
Aviva introduced “smart-working” in 2020 and encourage flexible working; however, the successful candidate will need to be based a commutable distance from our London offices – with frequent travel across London expected of the post-holder as well.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
- Solid understanding of public policy and UK politics, thanks to undertaking a relevant role within a political organisation, consultancy, regulator or central government, or within a corporate Public Affairs department
- Skilled at building connections and fostering collaboration, with the confidence to navigate evolving situations and support team goals.
- Strong communications skills, with the ability to translate complex policy matters into simple messages
- Adaptable to changing priorities and able to quickly become effective in new situations and when dealing with complex issues
- Prior work experience within Financial Services would be desirable!
