The Role
TheJunior Reserving Analyst role will assist in all aspects of the reserving function within the Fidelis IG Actuarial team. The role primarily involves assisting in the reserving calculation and communication of claims liabilities across a wide range of insurance and reinsurance lines, including complex and innovative products. This role provides broad exposure to both technical and commercial aspects of actuarial work, combining data analysis, actuarial modelling, and reporting to a diverse range of stakeholders. The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues in Claims, Finance, and Pricing across the Group’s UK, Ireland, and Bermuda offices. The wider Actuarial team operates collaboratively, offering opportunities for development and exposure to other actuarial functions.
Key Accountabilities
- Support the reserving function with quarterly reserving processes.
- Assist in the validation and processing of key reserving datasets.
- Help draft presentations and reports for internal stakeholders.
- Support the annual parameterisation exercise and assumption setting analyses.
- Develop an understanding of Fidelis’ lines of business through collaboration with underwriters, claims teams, and pricing actuaries.
- Support processes related to natural catastrophe and large loss assessments.
- Support process improvement initiatives to enhance overall efficiency and reporting quality.
- Assist with ad hoc actuarial projects as required.
- Expected to begin working toward actuarial qualification (study package on offer).
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Mathematics, Science, Economics or other numerical degree.
- Graduate to 1 year(s) experience.
- Strong intellectual and mathematical acumen, demonstrated by excellent academic results.
- Clear and confident communicator, both verbal and written.
- High attention to detail with the ability to multi-task and manage multiple tasks.
- Strong critical thinking, ability to interrogate data successfully and provide challenge when required.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
- Ability to deliver high quality work within tight deadlines.
