You will be the Investment Business Analyst reporting into the Finance Controls & Operations Manager in the London office. The role will assist on all investment accounting matters of the European entities, and investment accounting experience will be essential for the following:
- Investment accounts (in Swedish GAAP/IFRS)
- Belgium local investment accounts.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for all key European investment accounting activities involving the Investment Controller (based in Sweden), including dataflows to support each activity:
- Preparation of monthly investment accounting files from Clearwater and download in Workday. Monthly reconciliations, and investigation of differences.
- USGAAP to Swedish GAAP reconciliations
- Derivatives accounting
- Financial reporting including Solvency II reporting
- Control of pledged assets
- Administration of 33 pledged custody accounts related to the Belgium branch and communication with related French & Belgian insurance companies
- Monthly performance of the Priority Rights register
- Monthly FX rates control (SOX control)
- Overview and execute cash and security transfers
- Support to auditors for example trade ticket testing, audit certification requests
- Communicate with Clearwater, banks, investment advisors, asset managers, auditors, the internal investment team, finance team, treasury team, tax team etc (including log-in details to external sites wherever applicable.
- Management information related to investments.
- Develop and maintain investment reporting controls and documentation (as required).
- Identification of potential process and reporting risks, and recommend appropriate process improvement/best practice.
- Provide guidance on investment reporting standards (where applicable) and keep abreast of evolving regulatory changes relevant to investment accounting practices.
Technical Skills & Experience:
- Full Professional Qualification – ACA, ACCA or similar
- Experience of investment reporting in UK and Europe with a focus on Solvency II
- Ability to be self-driven and work independently
- Ability to work accurately and effectively while under pressure and with time constraints
- Ability to prioritise workload to manage conflicting priorities
- Flexible with a willingness to roll up sleeves and be an active team member
- Confident with an initiative-taking approach to problem solving
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Excellent Microsoft Office knowledge, with a focus on Excel
