What you’ll do:
The role is responsible for the efficient management of large claims outside of authority on behalf of clients, ensuring the highest standards of professionalism at all times. This role sits within our Open Market Property team.
In this role you will handle non‑complex claims autonomously and acknowledge and investigate selected more complex claims with limited supervision, escalating issues appropriately when required. The role also involves assisting colleagues with claims handling, adhering to internal and market claims procedures, and demonstrating a broad understanding of clients’ core businesses, relevant markets, and associated platforms and systems.
Role Responsibilities
- Deliver a responsive and efficient claims service, ensuring prompt settlement while continuously reviewing and improving service standards
- Negotiate claims effectively with markets to achieve optimal outcomes and support client retention
- Provide clear, informed advice to clients on claims-related matters as required
- Manage the end-to-end claims process, including timely handling of documentation and responding to enquiries
- Ensure the secure, accurate, and auditable handling of client monies, proactively managing payments
- Maintain and update internal systems to ensure accuracy and efficiency of records
- Prepare and produce statistical claims data for both internal reporting and external stakeholders
- Collaborate closely with placing teams and other internal departments to ensure client needs are fully met
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and market partners
- Conduct quality control checks on all documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Adhere to Miller’s policies, procedures, and internal controls, including those relating to compliance, legal, and financial crime requirements
Qualifications
- GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above
- CII qualifications desirable
- Knowledge of the North American Market
- Previous experience as a Claims Handler
