About the Role:
We are seeking a Business Systems Analyst who will help support the Exposure Risk Management application stack. We will need someone with a strong background in the insurance domain.
Reporting to the Lead configuration developer in the team, the role will be responsible for managing the ongoing build and maintenance of the application set.
About the Department & Team:
The GRSI UW Technology Team reports into the CIO and works closely with the Global Risk Solutions (GRS) technology teams to deliver innovative solutions and capabilities that leverage our technical expertise and business understanding and partnerships to enable market-leading performance world-wide.
The UW Technology Team is made up of people who deliver day-to-day 'Business as Usual' support and the delivery of enhancements and new applications to support LSM's underwriting teams. The applications are used in LSM's offices from Latin America and across Europe and the Middle East, through to Lloyd's China. The UW Technology Team works closely with other LSM and US-based Global Risk Solutions (GRS) teams to deliver the right solutions to LSM.
Purpose of the Role
- The ERM Business Systems Analyst is a technical member of the Agile delivery team, working collaboratively with the Scrum Master, Product Owner, and other team members to deliver business outcomes.
- The role is responsible for evaluating business and system requirements, configuring and supporting business applications, producing and maintaining technical documentation, and supporting the testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of systems.
- This role supports and will report to the Senior Configuration Developer across all aspects of application configuration and delivery, taking direction where required while demonstrating initiative and ownership in completing assigned tasks to ensure the successful delivery of enhancements, upgrades, and operational improvements, and ensuring the reputation of the team is maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, support, maintain, and enhance key business applications within the Exposure Management team.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to analyse business and system requirements and deliver effective application enhancements and solutions.
- Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Evaluate business and system requirements to identify opportunities for application improvements, recommending appropriate technical solutions based on research and best practice, under minimal supervision.
- Support the Lead Config Developer to interact with all levels of management, obtain buy in, sign-off and manage expectations. Furthermore, act as the primary technical contact for assigned applications, working closely with the Lead Config Developer, application vendors, and support teams to resolve technical issues and deliver enhancements.
- Provide technical support and guidance to business users through proactive engagement, effective communication, and a strong understanding of business needs.
- Contribute to team quarterly planning and set expectations for delivery of new capabilities, features, and functionalities to ensure delivery and testing align with overall project delivery goals, including schedule and resource planning, and support the execution of testing whether internal or external vendors and in partnership with Business Agility / Business teams.
- Participate in team demos, retrospectives, and all other ceremonies.
- Manage, prioritise, investigate, and resolve application incidents and service requests, escalating or collaborating with internal teams and third-party suppliers where appropriate.

- Administer application access, user permissions, and security profiles in accordance with organisational policies and governance requirements.
- Plan, coordinate, and support application upgrades, releases, and deployments, ensuring robust deployment plans and runbooks are in place, and all stakeholders understand their roles and responsibilities, and adhere to deployment protocols (i.e., aligning to CAB requirements).
- Help business units develop and execute system test plans, test scripts, and validation activities to ensure solutions meet business and technical requirements and ensure that sign-off requirements are met.
- Produce, maintain, and continuously improve technical, procedural, and operational documentation, ensuring compliance with organisational standards, policies, and procedures.
- Communicate release schedules, system enhancements, and implementation updates to relevant stakeholders, ensuring timely awareness of progress, risks, and issues.
- Participate in regular and ad-hoc meetings to review progress and contribute to discussions/decisions.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with business teams, technical colleagues, external vendors, and global Liberty Mutual stakeholders to support successful delivery and operational excellence.
- Collaborate across departments to coordinate activities, resolve issues, and deliver high-quality services that meet business expectations and organisational objectives.
- Promote High-Performance Engineering principles by advancing automated development practices through strategic oversight. Drive continuous improvement and use of AI.
Skills and Experience:
- Solid Exposure Management experience (at a minimum, previously worked on related projects)
- Insurance, Reinsurance and London Market experience
- Systems migration and integration experience
- Experience of working within an Agile environment
- External Test qualification (ISTQB or equivalent) an advantage
- Strong understanding of software development processes, including Agile methodologies.
- Familiarity with programming languages, such as SQL
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with a range of stakeholders
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Requires knowledge of JIRA (essential)
- Competent with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other analytical tools for reporting purposes
- Previous experience working within cross functional teams
- Ability to work to deadlines and to meet standards
