Job Description
This position has the responsibility to produce and underwrite risks appropriate to the defined Class of business on behalf of the syndicate in accordance with the approved business plan and defined personal authority limits. He/she shall be part of the APAC Property team, with direct reporting into Head of Property D&F, APAC.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development of the Property Portfolio and proposition in APAC & MENA, as per the Global D+F Property SBF Management Plan
- Work within the Global D+F Property Underwriting guidelines and risk appetite philosophy
- Work in close cooperation with London to manage overlap and be consistent, wherever applicable
- Review the underwriting appetite and provide recommendations if changes are required
- Assess and underwrite renewal and new business in a timely and efficient manner in line with the business plan and personal authority limits.
- Develop and maintain relationships with brokers, cedants and clients.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal procedures.
- Analyse terms, specification, and rating on prospective and existing business
- Compile underwriting reports as appropriate.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
- Compile statistics and analyse performance of all risks and accounts.
- Compile wordings and proposal forms
- Report monthly Premium Income figures
- And other ad hoc duties as required
Skills & Experience
- Technical knowledge of underwriting specific to Property D&F business lines (to include Power and Downstream as required)
- Broad exposure to distribution streams
- Active involvement in APAC markets including Australian / NZ / Japan markets is essential.
- Lloyd’s and London market experience would be an advantage.
- ACII qualification preferable but not essential
- Degree preferable but not essential
- Strong IT skills, literacy, numerate and having analytical and negotiation skills.
