We have the opportunity for an Assistant Syndicate Accountant to join our Finance department here at Tokio Marine Kiln. You will report into the Syndicate Finance Manager and will assist the team in the preparation of the financial books and records for the syndicates in a timely and accurate manner to ensure that the Syndicates comply with all reporting requirements, both internal and external, including the production of the Syndicates’ returns with supporting controls.
The role includes responsibility for:
- Calculation and preparation of key accounting journals for the managed Lloyd’s syndicates
- Production of key syndicate reconciliations including debtors and creditors and reconciliations
- investment reconciliations
- Production and timely submission of annual and quarterly syndicate regulatory returns
- Production of the quarterly analytical reviews on the performance and financial position of the Syndicates
- Preparation of VAT returns
- Assist with the implementation of new processes to ensure that any reporting changes from Lloyd's and other internal or external parties are delivered efficiently
- Assist in the development of systems and databases to increase efficiency and the level of automation
- Critically review information received by other departments for inclusion in syndicate financial returns
- Liaison with internal and external auditors
Proficient use of Microsoft Office is essential for this role, as is Lloyd's/Insurance reporting and accounting knowledge. Ideally, the successful candidate will either be a qualified accountant or they will be working towards obtaining ACA/ACCA or an equivalent qualification. We are looking for a strong communicator with excellent organisational and analytical skills.
