About the role
Industry Practices has been created to deliver market leading multiline solutions for specific high performing industry verticals. Our specialist underwriting team is building a bespoke client centric proposition tailored for the Healthcare industry and is supported by claims and risk engineers.
We are looking for an Underwriter to join our Company Market and Syndicate team, focusing on the exciting Healthcare and Medical Malpractice sector.
Role & Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
- Support the expansion of the International Healthcare Practice, focusing on profitability and strategic goals in General Liability, Medical Malpractice, and Employers Liability.
- Participate actively in the development and execution of the Industry Practice plan.
- Develop and maintain strong broker and customer relationships, and build new connections in line with Business Plan objectives.
- Enhance underwriting and product knowledge through internal and external training, and collaboration with other underwriters.
- Manage a portfolio of renewal business, including underwriting, pricing, referrals, processing, and servicing new business requests.
- Represent Everest at meetings, both at Lloyd's and during visits to brokers, Coverholders, and other customers.
- Monitor portfolio KPIs and support the Deputy Head of Healthcare across the broader portfolio.
- Collaborate with the Claims Manager and team on claims-related issues.
- Work with the actuarial team to effectively price individual risks and influence rating models.
- Ensure compliance with Lloyd’s and Everest underwriting standards, and stay updated on changes in underwriting, regulation, and compliance.
Experience, Skills & Competencies
- Experience gained in an underwriting or broking role
- Good technical knowledge of International Healthcare business, and/or Employers Liability and General Liability
- Knowledge or wholesale and retail business
- ACII qualified or progress towards/desire to complete
- Strategic skills – show an ability to determine opportunities and threats through comprehensive analysis of current and future trends that may impact our business
- Judgment / decision making skills – shows ability to use logic, rationality and objectivity in decision making
- Risk taking – show the ability to develop a sound underwriting view to take calculated risks with favourable outcomes
- Compliance – ability to understand and ensure compliance with all internal and external management and regulatory controls, with appropriate support
- Market and product knowledge – ability to maintain and develop market knowledge including competitor profiles and products
- Relationship building – developing ability to establish and maintain sound relationships both internally and externally
