The Role
The Head of HR, Casualty is responsible for supporting the Casualty practice within the UK. We are recognised as the market leading firm in Casualty claims with over 750 people based across our 14 offices within the UK and Ireland. This role leads a team of Business Partners and Advisors, reports into the UK HR Director and works closely with the practice area Chief Operating Officer and other business services leads to drive a high-performance culture across all levels of the practice area.
The role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership and relationship building skills to support the firm's goals, the HR strategy and delivery of the practice area objectives. The individual will work with their stakeholders, peers and the UK HR Director to design and implement a people strategy which supports both the HR strategy and the commercial objectives of the practice area.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership: Work with the UK HR Director to develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the global HR strategy and the department's objectives. Stay informed of market and industry trends, best practices, and emerging developments in performance, employee relations and conduct, and leverage insights to drive innovation and operational excellence.
Board Engagement: As a member of the Casualty Strategy Board (CSB) this role will support the leadership of the Casualty Practice ensuring the development and implementation of its strategy aligned with the overall strategy of the UK and of the firm, and provide direction and management to Casualty departments to support the delivery of profitable performance and growth.
Cyclical Processes: Work with peers and colleagues to deliver the annual cyclical processes including salary review, promotion processes and talent management.
Employee Relations: Work with the central Employee Relations Centre of Excellence to manage employee relations issues, overseeing the business partners and providing guidance and support to both employees and management.
Performance Management: Provide expert advice and guidance to senior management, HR business partners, and other stakeholders on conduct and performance issues ensuring alignment with the firm's objectives, values and culture. Ensure that there is a fair and robust performance management approach, ensuring regular feedback and development plans.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with all employment laws and regulations.
Training and Development: Identify training needs and work with the central L&D team to develop programs to enhance employee skills and career development.
Diversity and Inclusion: Promote a diverse and inclusive workplace culture.
HR Metrics and Reporting: Monitor HR metrics and provide regular reports to senior management.
Team Management: Manage and empower the Casualty Business Partnering team, fostering collaboration, developing technical excellence and building technical capability
Projects: Lead and support the implementation of change initiatives and projects as appropriate ensuring effective communication, stakeholder engagement, and change management
