Your Role:
Reporting to the Head of Reserving, providing actuarial support to the business including delivery of regular reserving for the syndicates under management.
Ensuring that the feedback loop between Reserving, Capital, Pricing and Portfolio Management, as well as other areas of the business is working effectively and efficiently including Claims, Underwriting and Finance.
Contribute to the development of the reserving process, methodology, and existing SQL/Excel/VBA based suite of reserving tools.
What you’ll do:
- Assist in the quarterly reserving process including, for a set number of classes, directing and reviewing the work completed by more junior team members. This includes estimating ultimate claims and premiums and the earned / unearned equivalents on a UK GAAP basis.
- Help support the processing of data, performing data checks and management of data through the quarterly reserving process.
- Undertake discussions with (but not limited to) claims, underwriting and finance as to the intended level of reserves.
- Undertake reserving deep dives into specific areas of interest in the portfolio
- Assist in the development of the in-house SQL/Excel/VBA reserving tools.
- Undertake the Solvency II Technical Provisions, US Trust Fund calculations and other regulatory deliverables as required.
- Assist in the development of management information and reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
- Undertake, where appropriate, in the analysis of new lines of business
- Assist development of more junior members of the team
What we are looking for:
- Fully qualified FIA, or equivalent
- 1st class or Upper 2nd class degree in a numerate subject
- Experience in reserving and reporting, preferably London Market/Lloyd’s
- Excellent IT skills e.g. Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of programming languages such as VBA, SQL, Python is highly desirable.
