Purpose of the Role
Reporting directly to Head of Exposure Management, the role is responsible for the delivery of exposure analysis and modelling across the syndicate’s Natural Catastrophe (NC) business classes. The role will be responsible for enhancing the development of the syndicate’s approach to accumulation management and modelling of NC risk.
This role will have great exposure across the business, working closely with stakeholders at all levels to refine the company’s view of risk and improve processes and reporting. The role will involve developing relationships both internally with other departments and senior management, as well as externally with model vendors and software providers.
Duties and Accountabilities
- Responsible for the monitoring and reporting of accumulation risk for all classes exposed to natural catastrophe risk.
- Develop, implement and maintain processes for recording exposure data for allocated classes of business. Oversee robust and consistent data standards, working closely with outsourcers. Ensure complete, accurate and timely data capture in appropriate aggregation systems.
- Develop and maintain controls and analytics for measuring nat cat accumulations, including identification of accumulation risk sources and techniques to manage such accumulations, including model adjustments. Contribute to the development of the internal risk appetite framework.
- Ownership of vendor relationships, nat-cat related model infrastructure and results output, including communication of model output and any model limitations to key stakeholders.
- Provide regular reporting and MI to underwriters, senior management, committees, and the board.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with relevant underwriters and other internal stakeholders
- Assist with regulatory requirements including Lloyd’s and other regulatory reporting,including reinsurers or other ad hoc reporting as required. Production post event aggregates and losses for the business.
- Management of 3 direct reports and liaison with larger outsourced teams.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
The successful candidate will have:
- Knowledge and experience of Exposure Management and related systems, including RiskLink and Sequel Impact
- Familiarity with processes & procedures for NC classes of business, including portfolio roll-up and Lloyds reporting requirements
- Power BI and programming language including SQL, Python, R desirable. Ability to use programming languages to improve processing efficiencies and automate reporting
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with an inquisitive, pro-active attitude
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate with other team members and departments
- People management and project management experience
