Industry Practices has been created to deliver market leading multiline solutions for specific high performing industry verticals. Our specialist underwriting team is building a bespoke client centric proposition tailored for the Technology Industry and is supported by claims and specialist risk engineering.
We are looking for a multiline Senior Underwriter who wishes to specialise in the exciting Technology sector and help grow the International Technology Practice.
Responsibilities
- Support the expansion of the International Technology Practice in line with Syndicate and Company platform plans and underwriting strategy, whilst maintaining a focus on bottom line underwriting profit and delivery of both Syndicate and Everest internal plans with a specific focus on General Liability (PL/Products), Employers Liability, Technology Professional Indemnity, Cyber and Property.
- Actively participate in the building and execution of the Industry Practice plan.
- Develop and broker & customer relationships and developing new relationships, where this is consistent with the objectives set in the Business Plan
- Actively invest and be able to demonstrate an expansion of underwriting and product knowledge, through dedicated training (internal and external) and working with other underwriters on specific accounts.
- Have the skills required in managing a portfolio of new business and eventually Renewals including underwriting & pricing, referral, processing, broker and client relationships; and servicing.
- Represent Everest at meetings both at the Lloyd’s box, in the office and during visits to brokers, Coverholders and other customers as required.
- To refer as appropriate risks exceeding prescribed underwriting authority
- To monitor all relevant portfolio KPIs for own portfolio of accounts and support the Head of Technology across the broader portfolio.
- To liaise with the Claims Manager and the wider claims team on claims related issues.
- Work with the actuarial team to effectively price individual risks and add influence to our rating process and dedicated rating models.
- Collaborate with Risk Engineering to deliver bespoke added value services.
- To participate in the underwriting peer review process at the weekly and monthly underwriting meetings, as required.
- To ensuring all processing and MI is up-to-date in respect of any individual accounts
- To monitor and keep abreast of changes in underwriting, regulation and compliance.
- To assist in the improvement of rating models, underwriting manuals, service standards, marketing materials, website as required
- Underwrite in compliance with Lloyd’s and Everest prescribed underwriting standards.
- Business travel as required to support the above objectives, and the appropriate management of T&E expenses.
Experience, Skills & Competencies
- Extensive Underwriting experience as well as good technical knowledge of International Technology business.
- Knowledge or wholesale and retail business
- ACII qualified or significant progress towards.
- Strategic skills – show an ability to determine opportunities and threats through comprehensive analysis of current and future trends that may impact our business.
- Judgment / decision making skills – shows ability to use logic, rationality and objectivity in decision making
- Risk taking – show the ability to develop a sound underwriting view to take calculated risks with favourable outcomes.
- Compliance – ability to understand and ensure compliance with all internal and external management and regulatory controls, with appropriate support.
- Market and product knowledge – ability to maintain and develop market knowledge including competitor profiles and products
- Relationship building – developing ability to establish and maintain sound relationships both internally and externally.
